I'm so lacking in sleep today that I feel hung over. Like my body isn't functioning properly and my blood is all whack somehow. Yes, I had a glass of wine last night, but it's definitely not that. Will.this.baby.please.stop.waking.up.to.nurse. Please, Sweet P! I'm going to start her on solids this weekend in the hopes that more calories will help. I'm in the magical thinking stage of trying to deal with sleep deprivation, obviously, thinking maybe sweet potatoes will help. Riiiiiiight.
Despite my bone weariness, I've promised Sister that I would pull her out of school after lunch today so I could take everyone to Pullen Park in Raleigh. Pullen Park has a huge playground along with an antique carousel, a kiddie train, and a little boat ride. Oh, and a snack bar with a huge array of ice cream and popsicles for cheap. I've been trying not to do quite so much driving lately, but I did want to do something special for Sister since she wrapped up her end-of-grade tests yesterday. Getting through two whole days of math tests is definitely worth celebrating around here! She feels confident that she passed, so I feel confident, too. I hear ya, Kat, on reconsidering homeschool once your boy has to face the EOG's. It's a lot of stress on a kid. Sister told me that one of her classmates threw up in the middle of the test yesterday and had to go home. Poor guy.

what the hell is wrong with this country that we think its alright to put our kids through this kind of pressure at such an early age??? yes, the freakin' idiot in the white house gets all the blame as far as i'm concerned. i can only hope that someone will come along and remove the "no child left behind" policy and we can get back to letting teachers do what they do best - teaching and caring about kids versus worrying whether or not their students pass some ridiculous test.
grrrrrrr. . . . can you tell this gets me worked up a bit?

Have a great time! Those tests terrify me, I am so not looking forward to it. And that sweet p is old enough to not need to nurse at night. Let your mama sleep, sweet p!
Pullen Park!!! I remember that place!!!! What a beautiful park that was too....I wish we could have ridden the train and gotten ice cream...maybe next time, huh? I think I'm coming to Raleigh in June....trying to anyway!
and those awful EOG's....Rae was having a treat for her class today since she didn't have one absent kid all 3 days of testing! But she is SOOOO glad they're over....
My daughter ended up having a better time during EOG's than all the work leading up to them. She pointed out on the days of testing they had very long recess afterwards and no homework.

Yay for Sister! I'm so glad she is done! Having struggled with Math my entire school career I know how terrible it is.

Wow. I feel ya on the sleep thing. I'm pretty sure the solid foods will help, hopefully! LOL
Your kids are still in school? Ours were out last Thursday.
