You suck, Dr. Ferber!

Can I just say that this isn't the first time I've tried to "train" a baby to lay off the nighttime nursing? I am no wuss when it comes to trying to mold a baby to my will. I understand that some crying is involved when trying to get a very little one convinced that at 21 pounds she is quite plump enough to go most of the night--from 10:30 p.m. til 5 a.m.--without nursing , dammit. Good ol' Ferberization worked for my first girl. Just a few nights of crying in her crib while we went in to reassure her that everything was o.k., we hadn't disappeared, we still loved her, etc, and she was good from then on. (Mostly.)

But THIS baby! THIS BABY! It's been an hour.and.a.half now of screaming and falling asleep, waking, me checking on her, screaming, then falling asleep. Is this the first night of this you ask? Oh, no. This is going on a week now, folks.

Screw you, Ferber.

Hey, you're also still up. Crazy. You must be exhausted, esp after doing this for a week. I will cast a magic spell on your wee one and hopefully that will work:-)

Ugh, that is so rough. I wonder if it's the second child -- my 15 month old still does not sleep through the night without waking. Hang in there and good luck.

Oh my goodness we are going through the same thing. We did the as you did with our first and he slept through the night by 7 months.

Little Cubby doesn't want any part of it. He resisted and wanted us around. Just unitl recently(he is 16 months)meaning this past week he has started to sleep through the night or get up at least once. This whole time I have been nursing him during this time. He doesn't nurse during the day.

I guess they will let us know when they are ready to sleep. Hang in there and I hope she sleeps for you soon.

Oh, that bad little Bean. I was hoping to learn how this was going - sorry we didn't get to talk on the phone last night. Miss K also took a week of full fledged fighting on this technique, but then it started getting significantly better. They've got opinions, don't they?

Hmmmm... Sounds suspiciously like my son. But he tries to trick me. He'll sleep great for a week or two, then BAM! Just like that he's up all. night. long.

I need some sleepy-dust for that child.

I hate Ferber too. He can kiss my non-sleeping ass.

I think someone told me Dr. Ferber publically said he sucks too. I know I am SOOOO lucky. A sleep from about 9:30 pm till 8:00 am. Don't hate me. Remember she wouldn't eat. Screamed in my face. Scratched me. Have pity. xoxo

My Isaac cried ALL NIGHT LONG when I tried to Ferberize him. For two nights. I gave in. Ethan--took about half an hour. Depends on the kid.

It must be a 2nd child thing...my 2nd was a nightmare! I finally gave up Ferber and tired Dr. Weissbluth. Similar concept, different approach. Worked miracles. Great blog!
